Much of my work involves content editing and QA, which in our workflows are handled as subtasks; the parent task for each content piece holds all the key details that I need to do the editing/QA work, so I find myself frequently navigating from the subtask as it appears in My Tasks list, back to the parent task. This extra step is minor individually but adds up over time; I even tried adding a custom reference field for “Parent” with the plan to add a rule which would populate the parent task in that field for any subtasks, but rules can only add links to specific tasks with the reference function, not conditionals like “parent of this subtask.” This functionality would also be helpful in building a team workflow board, as different team members have subtask assignments and it would be beneficial to be able to see/quickly access the parent tasks for these rather than the task name automatically opening the info pane on the subtask.
Here’s what I’d love to see, as a user story: As a user working with subtasks, I need to quickly identify and access the parent task directly from List view (in both My Tasks and projects), so I can understand context and navigate without opening each subtask individually This would reduce friction and eliminate repetitive clicks between subtask and parent, especially when key information lives at the parent level. Ideally, this includes inline visibility (e.g., parent column or expandable hierarchy) to support faster scanning and workflow efficiency.
