Power BI Desktop and Asana

I see in the 2020 March update Asana re-released the Power BI integration. We are trying to connect from Power BI desktop, and a scripting error comes up with unsupported browser.

Has anyone else had this issue?

  1. In Power BI Desktop, choose Get Data, choose Asana, enter the Team url
  2. In the Asana Auth screen, we choose a level (same issue for all levels) and click Sign in:
  3. On the Log In screen, we enter our credentials (which is odd because our organization is configured for SAML only) and click Log In
  4. Script error pops up, we click Yes:

  5. Unsupported browser error pops up:

We canā€™t continue past this point.

Iā€™m getting this too unfortunatelyā€¦

And Asana have now only opened up to Business and above subscribers - the hypocrisy!

Iā€™m getting this too,
Plz help

Hello,
We apologize for the issues cause by the unsupported browser error. This is due to Power Bi still using IE11 as the internal browser which is no longer supported by Asana. Weā€™ve made some fixes to allow this to proceed unblocked. Please let us know if you are now able to proceed through the flow!

I just finished https://pipeto.io as a 3rd party solution to connect data tools to Asana. It lets you connect Power BI (among others) to Asana seamlessly. Check it out @Avico @Joe_Moran

Hi Darko1,

Iā€™ll definitely check this out.
Iā€™m using CData for a while and I noticed that when you import tasks that assigned to just one project itā€™s doing a great job.
But, when you import tasks that assigned to 2 or more projects the custom fields are getting out of order.
I think it because of the 2000 rows import limit.

Kind Regards,
Avi

Is there anyway to connect my Power BI dashboards to my projects? I tried and got to work an integration but only to visualiza Asana Data in power BI, but I actually wanted my teams to see my reports in our project.

Thanks in Advance

Hi, did you manage to solve the issue?

Hello Darko1,

Iā€™ll certainly look at this.

Iā€™m utilizing CData for some time and I saw that when you import undertakings that allocated to only one venture itā€™s working effectively.

However, when you import undertakings that appointed to at least 2 tasks the custom fields are escaping request.

I think it on account of the 2000 columns import limit.

Kind Regards,

James Davis

Nonetheless, when you import endeavors that designated to at any rate 2 assignments the custom fields are getting away from demand.

Has anyone been able to resolve this URL issue? I am still unable to connect Asana to PowerBI Desktop and am getting a ā€œDataSource.Errorā€ when inputting the URL on a business level account.
