I’d like to request more flexibility in how due dates are handled in task templates.
Currently, when setting due dates in a task template, the only option is to base all dates on the task creation date (e.g., “due 3 days after task is created”). This can be limiting for workflows where tasks and subtasks need to align with a fixed final due date instead.
It would be extremely helpful to have an additional option during template creation:
Anchor Type for Relative Dates
When creating a template, allow users to choose:
-
Anchor on task creation date (current behavior)
-
Anchor on the final due date set when the template is used
How it would work
-
When using the template, the user enters the final due date.
-
Subtasks can then be assigned relative deadlines, such as:
-
“3 days before the final due date”
-
“1 week before the final due date”
-
“Same day as final due date”
-
-
This would allow workflows that count backwards from a known deadline, instead of counting forward from the moment the task is created.
This approach would greatly reduce manual adjustments and make templates more accurate for deadline-driven processes.
Thanks for considering this enhancement!
