Now Recruiting: Early Adopters for App Actors (App Identities for Customer Applications)

Hi everyone!

Back in June we asked what you’d build with native App Actors. Your responses helped shape our MVP, and we’re now recruiting early adopters to start building with it.

What is an App Actor?
An App Actor is a dedicated identity for your app or bot inside Asana. It acts under its own name, with its own permissions and its own access token. It is not tied to any human user.

That means:

  • Your integration survives turnover. No more workflows breaking when the person who created the PAT leaves the company.

  • No more sacrificed seats. You don’t need to buy a license for a dummy bot@company.com account.

  • Scoped access. App Actors can be limited to specific projects and OAuth scopes, so your security team can grant only what the integration actually needs.

  • Clean audit trails. Actions show up as performed by the app, not by whoever owns the token.

See more in the screenshots below!

Who we’re looking for
You’re a good fit if you:

  • Run custom apps or integrations today on PATs or Service Accounts, but want a more restricted method

  • Run custom apps or integrations dummy user accounts, but don’t want to pay for that extra seat

  • Are building bots, syncs, or AI agents that need their own identity

  • Have a Super Admin on your domain who can approve the installation of an app app actor

  • Can commit to trying the feature and sharing feedback over the next few months

How to join
Fill out this short intake form: App Actors Early Adopter Signup
Tell us a bit about your use case and we’ll reach out to get you onboarded.
