New colors coming to Asana!

Have to agree with the others’ negative comments here. The new color formatting makes it extremely difficult to read/use Asana. I honestly thought something was wrong with my monitor. The colors are too dull/faded. You really need to reconsider a return to the old colors which were bright and easy to distinguish. This new color palette honestly hurts my eyes.

For the board section add

.Board {

  • filter: saturate(1.9);*
    }

Thanks, Dino. This was very helpful. It certainly does not fix the general color theme issue but it does help make the colors more vibrant and less dull. For me, 1.9 was a bit too vibrant so I reduced the saturation to 1.3

Note to others: you do have to restart your Chrome browser for the User CSS drawer to open.

Agree with others here, at least would have liked the option to keep the bright theme.
The new colors make the tool much harder to distinguish between projects/themes and the entire experience feels as if my monitor is broken! (I keep forgetting and checking my HDMI cables)

Also as @Chrissy_Doremus said so well, the lovely colors used to actually make me happy (silly as that is) and the new scheme is so dreary and feels off brand.

I too gave it a week to make sure it is as bad as I first thought. In my opinion it still is. Please at least give a choice, thanks

For me it is now the second time you have changed the colours in the application.

The first time, about a year ago, you changed the colors to lighter tones, while some of them got very near to each other - e.g green and ocean. Also you changed the font color from white to black on some of the background colors for projects and tags. Already then it was difficult to read black on orange.

Now you changed the colors again. Everything look so dull and foggy and is way harder to read. As if I have spilled coffee on my whole screen.

Last time it was something to get used to, but this time it seems to be very hard. The pure beauty is gone.

Could you please add an option to jump between color schemes / themes? Currently you only provide a color blind mode.

I do not want to say, that in the past everything was better, but for esthetics and readability I would strongly advise you to add a theme to get back to to the colors from 2019.

I absolutely HATE the new color pallet! It makes me feel dreary and depressed. It now looks like something is wrong with the saturation on my monitor. It’s hard to look at for too long because my brain keeps telling me something is wrong. Why not just add these colors to the pallet instead of replacing the previous one? Please, roll this back ASAP!

I agree with most others here: please change it back! I came across this post while googling what’s going on with my Asana colors. This is very hard to read or track at all. I use a lot of tags to differentiate my tasks and identify the categories, and these are all un-workable now. The colors blend together, and it isn’t possible to just skim my list by the colors I use.

Is there a way to revert to the original color scheme? This new one is pretty bad.

Dino, you can’t imagine what kind of relief you are providing.
Have you tried anything for weekdays/weekends contrast in timeline.

Cheers from Argentina!

The new palette is a little bit dull but, besides that, there is no contrast between weekdays and weekend on timeline. This is really getting in the way of an agile reading of the gantt. Hopefully there will be some fine tuning. Thanks!

Hi There - I wouldn’t mind the more muted colors, except that now I have trouble distinguishing between when a task is completed and when it is not - I miss having that clear visual indicator. Please switch it back!

New colours…? I thought there was an issue with my screen, Asana was suddenly dull.
I don’t understand the aim of the new colours. Controversy maybe. But functionality-wise, they are less visually distinguishable from the more vibrant ones.

It just feels like you’ve removed some of the joy from Asana. PLEASE revert.

Thank you Anna!!! It makes them more bearable but I still want the old color palette!

Not a fan of the new colours - they are so hard to look at. The old colours worked and we had them associated to status etc and now we cannot really tell the difference and use the new colours to help us visually determine the difference. The rest of our company has the same feedback about not liking the new colours. Also I find the muted dull look very hard to read it - I keep finding myself squinting at the screen as the text isn’t enough of a contrast. I echo feedback from other comments and would love to see the ability to create your colours or at least choose your own colour palette.

These are horrible. I don’t need to be calm when looking at the calendar, I need to be able to easily differentiate between different projects.

Did you mean to say “Boring” or “Enticing” :laughing:

I find it difficult to focus on the new color scheme. While I think the actual colors themselves are beautiful, the contrast between them is not working for me. It’s like there is a hazy film on my screen. I’m all for inclusivity, but since vision clearly varies so much person to person, seems like maybe we should have options.

This color change is hideous! I spent 20 minutes adjusting my 4k monitor assuming something went wrong because the colors were all muted and dark. Seriously, who’s idea was this to force this roll out on everyone uniformly? How difficult would it have been to make it an option?

I’m a massive fan and power user of asana. I have multiple companies and teams but this is a foolish, immature move.

We’re the managers off on Friday so the interns decided to make a power move for the day or what?

Revert it back or give us the option to change!

The new color is too pale and washed out. While the old color scheme is brighter, maybe too bright for some, a little more contrast for this new color scheme would go a long way.
