Suggest to include the creator field in the task exported csv file.
Now we can search all tasks in advanced search by creator, but when we need to do statistics, it became tedious to export each creator one-by-one. So hope to see the creator field in the exported csv for our easier reporting.
Thanks for sharing your feedback with us, @Evan_Sho! As it stands, the “Created by” column is not included when you export a project or a report to CSV. I recommend you checking the workaround shared by @lbp here: Reporting by Task Creator - #5 by lpb
We don’t have immediate plans to implement this feature but I’ll let you know if you have updates in the future!

Hi Emily, thanks for your swift reply. I did check that thread but it only mentions a workaround which is tedious if we have many users to report. Therefore I decided to start a thread so Asana will have an idea of how many users need this feature.

Related to this , the “created by” field does not appear in the exported CSV. Is there a way to do so?
Welcome, @Fabricio_Watanabe,
I’ve moved your post to a more relevant thread. You can click the title to scroll to the top and vote with the purple Vote button.
You can also use my Asana2Go to export CSVs that you custom design. You’d want to start with CSV - Detailed and just add the one field.
Thanks,
Larry

Briefly describe (1-2 sentences) the Bug you’re experiencing: When I export to CSV, all the fields show EXCEPT for the “Created By” field in the export. I need this to pull data.
Steps to reproduce: Go to Project > Click Export to CSV
Browser version: Chrome
What version of Asana are you using (Basic/Premium/Business/Enterprise)? Enterprise

Hi @Brandon_Day, welcome to our Community Forum! At this time it’s not possible to include “Created by” in the project export. Apologies for the inconvenience. This is not a bug, but I do understand that having this option would be helpful. I’ve gone ahead and merged your post into the Product Feedback thread for this feature request so you can add your vote there too.
I’d also recommend following the workaround shared by @lpb in this post.

Hey Fabricio, I have the same problem. Were you able to find a solution?
Hi! No I was not able
In one of the cases I need that, the tasks are added via Form, so as a workaround I added a question for the creator to write their login…
But still it would be a great correction to have them exported on csv.
@Vanessa_N still no updates about it?
Hi @Fabricio_Watanabe, unfortunately we don’t have any updates to share regarding this request yet, but if this changes in the future, we’ll let you know.
@Natalie_Báez @Fabricio_Watanabe @Vanessa_N - Recently discovered an easy workaround for this (moving forward, won’t work retroactively). You can now create rules in Asana for text fields using variables.
So, you could create a field titled Created by (Reporting) and have a rule that says When task is added to this project, set “Created by (Reporting)” field to “Task creator” variable. This will automatically pull in the task creator, which you can scale for future reporting. Since this is a custom field, it will be exportable via CSV!
Unfortunately it won’t work for anything prior to the rule’s implementation, since rules in Asana are not retroactive. Hope this helps!
Not a complete solution, but we’ve marked it as such to give this workaround more visibility

Hi @Ryan_Savage, that’s a great workaround—thanks for sharing! I’m marking your reply as a solution just to give it more visibility, but the topic will remain open for voting

We’d really love this feature!! I need to document who’s creating tickets on our board and right now, the only way to do that is 100% manual scrolling through the list of tickets. Please add this feature!
It’s difficult to comprehend why this isn’t included in the csv export. What is the reasoning behind excluding this important field?

A bit surprised to see this only has 6 votes, we’re really interested in this field for reporting. Even when doing a search, “created by” won’t show as a column, making reporting out on Asana usage/activity quite difficult. I did create an in-Asana report, but it’s limited to only showing the first ~13 or so users, and anything after that has to be seen in “See All” where the “created by” info disappears.
