I see that there is functionality to import when you create a new project - I would however like to import a CSV file into an existing project - Is this possible?

Sure, you can do that via the project menu (please see screenshot below).
Remark: however, you can create new tasks but not update existing tasks (at least not natively). If you are looking to update existing tasks, some new 3rd party tool was recently introduced by @DougB : https://app.bulkyapp.com/)
