Currently we work with the goals module and it is very time consuming to add all goals and subgoals for our customers to Asana (every 3 months).
Current process:
Specialists add suggested goals to a Google sheet document and discuss these goals with the internal team and the customer. Why not directly in Asana: Asana does not have a clear compact overview and it takes a while to add the (sub)goal and metrics. Also, the customer does not have access to goals (guests are not allowed in the goals section (Asana restriction)).
When the (sub)goals have been approved by the customer, our Operations team adds them manually to Asana Goals.
This is really not a very efficient process and it also causes delays in keeping track of the progress of (sub)goals.
An import (add goals to Asana) and export feature (share updates with the customer) for the Goals module would really improve Asana. In order to provide updates to our customers it would also help us out if guests could be given access to a specific team in the goals module (view and comment access).
My org is about to transition all OKRs to Asana. I was just saying today that it would be so helpful to be able to import OKRs into goals to get us started (and to help with buy-in).
I am thrilled to be able to export Goals. However now I’d like to IMPORT them. Is there a way to import goals that were originally exported (& therefore formatted) by Asana? THANK YOU!
Just trying the goals feature for the first time and it’s pretty much useless if I can’t import goal data. I could live with manually entering the data for a while, but guess what? It forces you to use “Today” as the date. So if I want to load in some history, I’m dead in the water. Why wouldn’t you allow people to pick the date of the data point. Very frustrating.
I’m currently managing our goals for Q2 2026, and I’ve just hit a massive productivity wall. We have a complex structure of Parent Goals and multiple Subgoals (SEO, SEM, Content, etc.) with specific Owners and Teams assigned to each.
Every quarter, I need to replicate this identical structure for the new period. Here is why the current workflow is broken:
Export exists, but Import is missing: I can export my Q1 goals to a CSV, which is great. But there is no way to import that data back to start Q2. Having an export feature without an import counterpart feels like a job half-done.
Bulk-creation is non-existent: In the Tasks module, I can paste a list of 20 lines and get 20 tasks. In the Goals module, doing the same results in one giant, 20-line-long goal name. This is incredibly frustrating.
Manual hierarchy is a nightmare: Re-linking subgoals to parent goals one by one for 20+ entries every three months is not “strategic planning”—it’s just tedious data entry.
What we need:
A dedicated “Import Goals from CSV” button within the Goals module.
The importer should recognize the “Parent Goal” column to automatically rebuild the hierarchy.
At the very least, let the “Add Goal” field support multi-line pasting to create multiple goals at once, just like Tasks do.
Asana is a leading productivity tool, but manually recreating OKR structures in 2026 feels like a step backward. Please upvote if you’re also tired of the “Duplicate → Rename → Re-link” cycle every quarter!
