Currently, I use quite a few workspaces for work and also utilize a Personal Workspace for personal use.
In recent years, as LLM capabilities have improved, I believe examples of creating personal assistants via MCP have gradually increased. True to form, I tried it myself.
Sadly, however, the Personal Workspace (free plan) doesn’t support “Advanced Search,” meaning I can’t even ask it to do basic things like “Organize my tasks for today.”
To work around this, I’d need to upgrade my plan. But sadly, I can’t upgrade with just one license; you must subscribe to at least two licenses.
Does this mean creating a personal assistant is impossible for individual Asana users unless you pay double the usual cost?
Does anyone know of a workaround?
Ideally, it would be possible with the free version, but subscribing to just one license would also be acceptable.
To the Asana Developers,
We’re entering an era where more people will use AI as a gateway to access various tools. It feels like a huge missed opportunity that such an excellent tool as Asana doesn’t even allow basic AI interactions for personal use. I understand that corporate customers are the top priority in your business model, but I sincerely hope you can either expand the API or at least allow single-license contracts.
I’ve recommended Asana to most companies I’ve worked with, and several times even facilitating company-wide adoption and training. It would be truly sad if my personal use were forced to leave Asana under these circumstances.
