When I work in a board I manage, sometimes I’d like for a task to stand out, so I can quickly see it among a ton of tasks in different stages or with the same deadlines or color coded tags. Many of our tasks have 3-4 colored tags, so they start blending together. I was hoping there was a way to turn the board task background from white to light yellow or another color, so at a quick glance I could see the ones I want to focus on in the short term.
I have done some Googling, but doesn’t look like this is currently available, is that correct?
Hi @Melissa_Karsten! You’re correct. Currently, there isn’t a native way in Asana to change the background color of individual task cards in Board view (for example, making a task card light yellow to stand out). Board cards remain white today.
A few workarounds that teams commonly use instead:
- Create a Priority custom field with bright dropdown colors
- Use emojis in task titles (
) for quick scanning
- Add cover images/icons for highly important tasks
- Create a dedicated “Focus Now” or “Priority Today” section at the top of the board
- Use filtering/saved views to temporarily isolate urgent work
