We used to have the ability to ‘sort within sections’ or ‘group within sections’ with custom fields on our asana projects, which would group certain tasks in separate sections based on the custom field tag that it was assigned to.
I still have this feature available on the desktop apps that sorts all tasks nicely within different groups, I used to have the same view on my mobile app also, but now it seems like I can’t get this to view in the same way on mobile anymore?
Does anybody know if this is still possible? I have attached examples of what this would look like on desktop vs on mobile for reference, I have tried all of the options to change views on the mobile app including ‘group by sections’ but it doesn’t show the same view as it used to anymore.
Wondering if you ever figured this one out?
I have a custom status field that I group by on desktop, but I can’t group by custom field on my iPad, only due date, project, & custom sections (not custom field).

Hello. A relatively new user here. I’ve noticed that in the web/desktop app I can create a Custom Field and then change the Board view to group tasks by that field (e.g. task status). This is selected instead of grouping by Section. This works well, and offers flexibility.
The mobile app does not seem to support Board views based on this alternative grouping based on Custom Field. When I open the same project on mobile, the Board only offers grouping (i.e. columns) based on Section. I can’t see a way to alter this on mobile.
Am I missing something? It would be a somewhat disappointing if the mobile Board view could not support alternative grouping. That would make navigating desktop vs mobile interactions with tasks a bit awkward.

We have a product feedback forum English Forum > Product Feedback and we already have a user that has provided feedback regarding something similar here please let me know if I understand you correctly

Agree with this. We would also like board views on mobile to have the same grouping options as the desktop – i.e. that they could display alternative groupings based on a Custom Field. Users will find it disorienting to interact via mobile without similar basic grouping presentation there.
