My boss and I meet every Monday morning for a quick check-in, and I wanted to make sure we discussed certain topics but didn’t want to create a full agenda, as we do for other meetings.
What I ended up doing is to creating a dependency, where that meeting task is blocking the tasks I want to discuss. When we complete the meeting task, those other tasks are no longer blocked by need for a discussion, plus it creates a trail to show we did talk about it. It’s working great.

Great idea, I do the same. But
why not?

Well, that’s a good question.
We want these check-ins to be quick and casual, like a coffee break where you chat about the week ahead. Creating agendas would make it more formal. And this creates a chain where I can look at the dependencies for a task and know we talked about it at that meeting.

I think I will give this a go. I have setup projects for my regular 1:1 and have recurring meeting tasks to remind me to prepare, but always find it a challenge to work out what the key items I want to discuss in that meet are. Over an above the normal agenda items.

This has been working really well for us. We have a more detailed agenda for our monthly meetings, but for the weekly check-in, this has been great. Good luck!
