Dear Asana,
I first came across you in 2012. Back when my life was a mix of college deadlines, community organizing, and big ideas that needed somewhere to live.
You followed me through it all.
You were there when I was organizing campaigns and keeping volunteers aligned. When I landed my first “big girl” job and realized that execution mattered just as much as intention. When I packed up my life and moved from Canada to the U.S., managing transitions, paperwork, and the emotional weight of starting over.
You helped me plan my 600-person wedding, and later helped me organize ideas, permits, and contractors when we renovated our home in 2020, and we weren’t able to easily meet contractors in person.
You’ve helped me manage nearly every project, personal and professional, since.
Over time, you became more than a tool. You became how I think about work and what allows me to lead confidently, knowing I can trust my systems and have access to what I need weather at home or on the go.
As you helped me manage my PMP study schedule, you taught me that good systems reduce stress and that structure protects creativity. Tenets that I carry with me as I lead projects and teams. You showed me the power of clarity as a form of kindness.
As my responsibilities grew, I also led teams and managed more complex projects and strategies simultaneously. You grew with me, from simple task lists to mature workflows, and now to intelligent AI support that helps teams focus on what actually matters.
So this Valentine’s Day, I’m reflecting on a very steady kind of love. Not flashy. Not complicated. Just reliable. Thoughtful. And evolving in the right ways.
Dear Asana. Thanks for being my first workflow love. And for growing with me into what’s next.
With appreciation,
Dahab
