CSV Import - Dependencies - Comma in Dependent Task Name

Topic: Dependencies when Importing via CSV File

Summary: If the task includes commas in the name, you are unable to create a dependency on other tasks due to the delimiter field being a comma.

Description of Problem: If a task has a comma included within the name, you are unable to have that task as a dependency because the CSV import tool identifies the comma within the name of the task as separate tasks. This could be fixed by making the delimiter a semi-colon instead.

Resolution: Multiple tasks within the dependencies column delimited with semi-colon.

@Andrew_Bowers2,

For task names with commas in them, did you try enclosing the task names in double quotes?

(I didn’t test this, but just replying quickly based on memory.)

Thanks,

Larry

Hi Larry,

Thank you for the suggestion! I wasn’t able to get this to work but i’ll keep trying a few things.

Everything has to be exact to work. You might experiment with a file with one simple row. You can see other Forum responses by searching for other suggestions. Or email support@asana.com and attach your file.

Thanks,
