Collaborators column disappears when I save my projects as templates - help please

Hi everyone

I’m pretty comfortable with all the Asana basics and customizations but have what should be a simple issue I’m running into and can’t seem to troubleshoot.

I’m in the middle of setting up some projects that will act as nice workflows for our business needs. However when I save these projects as templates the Collaborators column (which I have Rules associated to) disappears and I can’t find a way to add it back into the template at the Edit stage.
So I am forced to add the Collaborators AFTER I create a new project from the template. This is not a suitable option for me as I will be rolling the templates out to our teams.

I am also finding the same issue with any basic project I create with a Collaborators column that doesn’t have any Rules etc running.

I can’t seem to find any threads on this but I’m sure others will have noted the same issue if it was an Asana functionality issue. I’d be super grateful if anyone has some suggestions or thoughts that could help?

Many thanks
Matt

It sounds like you’re experiencing an issue where the Collaborators column is disappearing when you save a project as a template in Asana. This can be frustrating, especially when you rely on this feature for your workflows.
When you save a project as a template, ensure that the Collaborators column is visible and properly configured in the project before saving it as a template and try to keep Collaborators column to “People” field. After configuring and saving the updates then try to create the templates for future references

If still it is not works for you! Instead of creating a new project from a template, duplicate an existing project that includes the Collaborators column. This might retain more of the column settings compared to starting from a template.

@Matt_Crowther,

Project templates don’t support all the features of projects, including this one (and features relating to Views too, for example).

But your rules will still run even without the column, in case that was of concern.

A workaround would be to include a task in the project template asking the person who creates the project from the template to show this field (manually).

I couldn’t immediately find an existing request in Product Feedback but you can create one there.

Thanks,

Larry
