Change the File name AFTER uploading to Asana.

I would like to change a file name after uploading it to Asana. It does not currently allow that and gives me the following work around:

Based on the information from the help center, it appears that there isn’t a direct way to rename a PDF file that’s already been uploaded to Key Resources in Asana. When files are uploaded, they maintain their original filename.

If you need to change the name of a PDF file in Key Resources, you would need to:

  1. Download the existing file

  2. Rename it on your computer

  3. Delete the old file from Asana

  4. Upload the newly renamed file

For attachments on tasks, you can delete an attachment by clicking the drop-down arrow in the attachment’s name and selecting “Delete attachment,” then upload the renamed file.

This is inefficient and takes up too much space on my computer. Is it possible to get an update where you can edit the file name after it is uploaded, similar to how you can change the name of a PDF in Google Drive without corrupting the file.

Hi @Jen_Guard welcome to the Asana community it seems this has been an ongoing issue/request you can see details here in the following thread about

This would certainly be awesome task to accomplish if and when it happens.

Hello @Jen_Guard - welcome to our community!

I am going to move this forum post into our English Forum > Product Feedback - this will allow users to vote on this feature.

@Alex_Christensen, Did you elect not to merge with the English Forum > Product Feedback topic @Levar_M suggested, or just missed it maybe? Just wanted to check in case it was missed, but fine with whatever you recommend.

Thanks,

Larry
