I created a budget template and mistakenly created fields for all 12 months as “Text”, I’d like to go in and change the Field Type from Text to Number, but cannot see a way to do that and wasn’t able to find this in any of the Help topics.
Hi @Julia_Forbes,
Unfortunately there’s no way to change the type of an existing custom field.
@Bastien_Siebman, I’m not sure what the demand would be but this might be an interesting utility for you to create for your collection…
Particularly since I didn’t realize that there is an automatic SUM feature that is very cool but only if the field type is number/currency, etc.
It could be done using the API but in your case you’d be better off re-creating fields and manually move data
It seems as though Asana is very inflexible. It has taken 30 minutes for my spreadsheet to import, and after it imported i realized that two number columns came through as text.
You are telling me that I now have to re-do the entire import?
Is there a max number of line items for one project to have?
Make sure to always check the mapping Asana does before actually doing the import.
Yes…
There is, and there is a thread about it but I forgot. 500? 1000? @LEGGO you remember?
I don’t believe there is a limit actually. If you have over 1,000 tasks in a Section you aren’t able to collapse it (that might be specific to My Tasks ). However, there isn’t a hard limit to the number of tasks you import or that exist in a project.
That said, users have expressed issues regarding lag and the type of CSV files that successfully import when working with a high count (>500) of import lines. Here is of those mentions:
I can’t find the post where a user was performing a test to see at which point his import wouldn’t perform because it reached some unpublished limit like 2,000 or so.
Oh sorry I meant a maximum number of rows to import. A project does not have a max number of tasks indeed.
