auto assign to me

I saw a couple threads about this, but could use some specific help. I understand Ctrl-M will assign a task to me, but I also read that I could create a rule, which is what I’d prefer. The “add rule” feature comes up with a search box. But it seems the trigger list is pre-populated and doesn’t come up with anything when I search “assign”. It seems like it should be straightforward- if assign to field is blank, assign to me. How do I get the assignment field into the “add trigger” box? The how-to video used the existing fields- is that all we can do?

You may have these options (not sure if they are available to everyone with Rules access):

The thing we would need to know is: Are you creating the Task, or adding it to the Project in question? Or do you want literally yourself to always be assigned via this rule (as opposed to some other person)? If so, the above should work, assuming you have access.

NOTE: For the “Do this” step, I didn’t indicate the intended Assignee, but you see the available options at the right of the image.

Hello Stephanie! Terrific, thank you! Exactly what I needed! I was tripped up on the “when” and using “a task is created” was the secret. In case helpful to someone else, I found that in the “Check if” box, there is a pre-programmed option for Assignee is Empty. So grateful for your help!
