TABs are an absolute must. I often have several projects open at the same time and tabs make it very convenient to switch between them.
For everyone who wants multiple tabs for the Asana Desktop app, make sure to go vote for this feature on the Product Development page! Here is the link to the specific post: https://forum.asana.com/t/multiple-tabs-in-desktop-app/121071
Maybe I’m in the minority, but actively moving away from desktop based apps and localised installations last few years to move my work into exclusively browsers and online platforms. Maybe goes to show the varying ways everyone works
Installed the app there but I don’t think I could see a usecase for it. If it had an offline mode, which another poster mentioned it doesn’t I guess that would be a good reason to have it if I need to be taking notes or updating tasks while I’m travelling and without internet access.
Will keep an eye on how it develops, but not seeing a massive reason to move from browser. And if anything moving from browser to localised install feels a step backwards. But good to provide options and that never hurts!
Nice. Thanks for this.
Been using the app now for 2 weeks and loving it! - PLEASE LET US KNOW WHERE WE CAN POST BUGS! – CONSIDER ADDING A MENU ITEM THAT LINKS TO A BUG REPORTING PAGE.
Hi all !
At the end of the last week, I find another issue. When I try to download a document attached to a task, it opened a new windows in my web browser and I need to relogin to download it.
Is it normal ?
Maybe it’s the right location to post my different issues, could you please explain where I could post them ?
Thanks a lot !
Wonder if anyone else is having an issue with the Asana icon broken/scrambled in the OS notification window? It’s only there (not in the task-switcher). I am on 2020 Mac Mini (M1) running 11.3.1
I definitely see your point. On my team however, having a desktop application that can be launched on OS startup will definitely encourage use over a product a worker has to go to the internet to use.
This is admittedly probably nit-picking but I just wanted to make sure no one gets confused - I think when you said “internet” you meant “browser”, which is a valid comment. To be clear, though, one still needs to have internet access to run the Asana desktop app (it doesn’t run offline from the internet). So “browser” in your sentence would make total sense; “internet” technically does not since one still needs internet for the desktop app.
True.
In my coworkers world, browser=internet
Yeah I take your point. Guess it can also come down to scale as well, as how widespread the userbase is. I know in our scenario, be hard pushed to justify getting a desktop app for a webapp setup into package deployment and maintained. The team in question would query why they would take on the ownership and potential support issues for platform that has feature parity on web.
Underlying it all though is people and groups work differently, and providing choice and options is always the best solution in my experience.
We’ve downloaded the app and are finding it pretty stable, +1 for having multiple tabs in a future release. We are having an issue uploading files from OneDrive though, it just shows a white box and the following - Cannot display OneDrive file picker, anyone else having any issues with this?
How can i open all links in my favorite Browser (Chrome). All Links are opened in the chrome except for google links. Kind of annoying.
May I suggest a feature to add into the pipeline?
It would be useful to have a menu bar icon (on Mac) similar to that of Google Drive that would allow you to see recent changes to tasks that you follow with a simple click at the icon instead of opening up the entire app.
Just a QoL suggestion. thanks for releasing the desktop app
Cool!
I’ve be waiting for that! Thank you guys, you are the best!
Love the desktop app so far! Is there a way to choose where the app installs? I have almost no room on my C: drive as it is. If not I’ll need to remove it until that functionality is there.
Hi @Ben_Brenner and @Rob_Gawler, I recommend you uninstalling and reinstalling app and if the issue persists, could you please contact our support team? They will be able to have a closer look at these issues.
@Patricia_Loofbourrow I don’t think this is possible but I’m checking with the product team. I’ll let you know!
@Emily_Roman I did uninstall and reinstalled and then tried it also on my CEO’s M1 mac mini and he had the same issue. Did not have issue on older Intel macbook pro, so guessing it’s tied to M1.
