Garrett here! Group PM Lead for our Core Project Management functionality. I’m entering the chat (and am defining a very real product strategy related to this thread)! My request: instead of a comment “+1” (please still upvote!), can you please share at least minimal details of your use case? While your votes got my attention
, now I would greatly appreciate more stories about how this functionality would impact your workflows. As our Forum leaders can attest to, I’m your biggest champion if you empower me with the details!
It is definitely worth your time to give @Garrett_Knoll ammunition to advocate on your behalf. My colleagues and I have seen the results in features released or placed on the roadmap. He is an amazing advocate who does what he says!
Thanks,
Larry
Hey @Garrett_Knoll ! PMM here. My use case: I’m trying to create a Gemini agent that pulls all of my ‘work’ into one place, this is inclusive of all the different channels I’m notified of work or action needed, including Asana, Google Docs/Sheets/Slides/Meetings Follow-ups, Confluence, Figma, Lucid and Guru.
The agent is using Google Tasks as SSOT; It will then organize and group actions to help me prioritize my day or tackle some quick work when I have 10 minutes between meetings. Why Google tasks? We’re a Google shop, but I’m sure others would want to do something similar with other agents.
Thank you @Garrett_Knoll for jumping in to try and bring this integration feature to life. our use case is around half of our workforce is highly mobile and very integrated into google services, specifically google tasks for assignments. The less mobile and more tech savvy folks managing the Asana side of the house as we build out our projects and transition to running SCRUM and building sprints, there would be huge value for some of our team members who aren’t as deep into the weeds on the tasks to be notified through an active google task being created when an Asana task was assigned to them. We’d love a two-way sync, but would love version 1 to include:
New Asana tasks → new Google task created
Google task completed → Asana task completed
We completely understand the task update complexity and that would only be a nice to have, but task creation and completion are more important by far.
I’ve got a few different project management tools, and I have been sometimes using Google Calendar for scheduling my tasks, but it’s not a great to-do list, and I just recently found that using Google Tasks throws those items one the calendar, and you can click them to mark them as complete!
Then I thought “Wow, I’d love to have my Asana items appearing here”, because that would prevent me from needing to go seek them out. Now I do understand that the Date in Asana tasks is a due date, meaning if it appears on your calendar then, it’s too late, so it might have to be something else.
I used Motion briefly, which is an excellent system of organization, although I’ve already got a system working with Asana that allows assiging tasks to people and keeping more track of one project, and much better descriptions and file attachments. Motion is also fairly expensive, so I am sticking with Asana at the moment.
I see the Google Calendar integration, though Google Tasks seems like a better option for integrating!
Thanks, @Garrett_Knoll ! I am part of a small org that uses Asana for project management and Google work spaces for most work. Our use case would be fairly simple — we need My Tasks from Asana to sync into a user’s Google Tasks list. A one-way sync would actually work fine for us here. As others have mentioned, it would be very helpful if marking the tasks ‘completed’ would also sync between the two.
The problem that we are looking to solve is our less tech-savvy team members are more familiar with the Google workspace and are less willing to move between apps often. The Google Calendar sync is helpful, but when the task only exists on the calendar on it’s due date, it can sneak up on folks. The Google Tasks list is different because you can see the full list of tasks at any point in time. An integration that allows you to open a side bar or pop-up window with a list of all of your assigned Asana tasks while in Google Calendar would also work as a solution for us.
