The only current status options for open goals are on track, at risk, off track or no status. If something has not yet commenced and isn’t due until a later time period, there is no way to indicate that. Leaving it blank means it has no status, which could mean it is off track. Could you add a status of ‘Not Yet Started’ to the open goal status options?
This would be a surprising assumption, given that there is an “off track” status available, isn’t it?
We haven’t heard anything about Asana’s willingness to add new statuses, usually goals are tied to time period and are expected to be ongoing or not started based on this.
But posting here was definitely the right move, people can upvote!
Thanks Bastien. When you report on overall goal status, having some show as ‘no status’ is difficult to interpret. It could mean they haven’t started, or it could mean they just haven’t been updated for some reason. Would much prefer this to be clear at a glance without having to dig further.
Hi @Leisa_McGuinness ,
Welcome to the forum!
I don’t think implementing this feature would really solve your problem, as you’ll still come across blank statuses where you’ll be left wondering whether progress has actually started, or has been delayed.
Using off track to indicate a delay as @Bastien_Siebman suggests sound like a good option.
Also, one could argue that you don’t actually start goals, but you start projects that support goals.
