Add Recurrence from Forms

We’re moving our maintenance team into Asana for both work orders and preventive maintenance. I want our Facilities Administrator to be able to create Preventive Maintenance tasks from a form to ensure it’s always in the right format. Many of the tasks recur on different cadences. I cannot find a way to do this from forms with the due date feature.

I added a field called frequency with the hope that I could perhaps use a rule to add the recurrence to the due date, but no dice. I also attempted AI, but the AI could not impact the recurrence of the task with anything I tried.

Is there some way to do this from a form or a rule that I’m missing? If not, can we get that added to the road map?

Hi @Bonnie_Beauchamp,

I don’t believe this is natively possible, but I remember @Bastien_Siebman mentioned being able to create a solution to this same request a while back in this post: https://forum.asana.com/t/create-recurring-task-from-form/449611

@Bonnie_Beauchamp If you’re on an Enterprise plan, this is pretty straightforward using Script Actions, which is what we’ve done. Happy to share how we set it up if you’re interested, we’re currently using it for recurring events.

Hi Esteban! Thanks for reaching out. Yes, I’d like to hear more about how you’re handling this through Script Actions. We are on Enterprise.
