Hi Asana Team,
I’d like to request a feature that I found incredibly useful when using Teamwork for task management. Specifically, the ability to set start and due dates when creating tasks via email.
In Teamwork, you can include date directives within square brackets in the subject line to automatically assign start and due dates to the task. For example:
[today]
– sets today as the due date[next week]
– sets a due date one week from today[friday]
– sets the due date for the upcoming Friday[22/03/2025]
– sets the specific due date
Additionally, you can define both a start and a due date by including two date directives, where the earliest date becomes the start date and the latest date becomes the due date:
[today][next monday]
– task starts today and is due next Monday[16/12/2025][22/12/2025]
– task starts on Dec 16th and is due Dec 22nd
This simple syntax made it easy to manage deadlines directly from my inbox without needing to adjust dates after the task was created. Adding this functionality to Asana would be a game changer for those of us who rely on email-to-task workflows and need more flexibility in managing task timelines.
Thank you for considering this feature request. I appreciate all the work you’re doing to keep Asana powerful and user-friendly.
