About deleting a team

Hi guys, I am using a free version of Asana for my team management. My colleague had prepared a team with a name Museum Design.
The same colleague is now not with our organization and her Gmail account is also deleted from our domain.

I want to create a team with the same name or if possible want an access to the same group.

Please let me know how can I get it done. Thank you.

Unless you were already a member of that team, I doubt you’ll be able to access with contacting Asana support.

Hi @Rohan_Pabale

@Michael_Harding is absolutely correct. This is something our user operations team would be more than happy to assist you with. Simply reach out to us via our Asana support form, the link for which I’ve provided below:

Hope this helps!

Before I reach out to Asana Support team, I have a member of that team who is still working with us. I have told her if she can delete the team. As we are using a free version, I think she will be able to do it.

Yes, that should be no problem @Rohan_Pabale, in a free Org any Team members can delete a Team, following the steps below, so if your colleague is still a member of this Team, se should definiotely de bale to delete it!

  1. Access the Team Settings: Head over to your sidebar and hover your mouse over the Team you’re looking to delete and click on ā€œā€¦ā€ icon next to the team’s name
  2. Select Edit Team Settings
  3. Navigate to the ā€œAdvancedā€ tab
  4. Select ā€œDelete the Teamā€

If it doesn’t work, feel free to reach out to our support team, they’ll be more than happy to help!
Have a great day!

Hi Guys,
I did the same procedure. I asked the existing member to accept my invite and then deleted the team.

Thanks a lot for the help though! Cheers

Thanks for keeping us posted @Rohan_Pabale! Have a great day!

This is too risky if a member of a team turns angry.

I said the same thing to Asana 3 years ago and they told me they can recover anything deleted. STILL, it could jeopardize success of a client on a tight deadline. It’s kinda ridiculous.

Hi Marie,

I am not seeing the ā€˜advanced’ tab with options to delete teams even though I am the person that created the teams. Could you let me know what I am doing wrong or what else to look for? Thanks very much.

Laura

Welcome to the Forum @LDP . Naty here stepping in for my colleague!

In order to help you further, could you please send me a screenshot of what you are seeing?

You should see something like this:

Looking forward to your reply!

what happens if the 'Delete Team…" does not show?

Hello,

I’m having the same issue. I don’t see the Delete team option on the bottom.

Thanks!

Hello @Matt_M and @Think_Wood

welcome to the Asana Community Forum

You are a member of the full team correct?

If so then I also recommend checking this: https://forum.asana.com/t/how-do-you-completely-delete-a-team/1209/10?u=andrea_mayer

And in case you are still not able to delete the team I recommend reaching out to support.

Hi! I think I found the solution to your problem. We had the same exact issue. Just go to admin console > Teams > Click the 3 dots on the right most side of the team you want to delete > Remove team from division.

This way the delete button will appear. It happened to be that you can’t delete a team when it’s part of a paid division. You need to remove from division first.

Seems that this isn’t in any forum yet. I hope this helped. I’m 2 Years late. hehe
