I’m loving task types and can see great value to replace single-select custom fields of statuses. To fully adopt them I would expect them to behave exactly as a single-select field does.
Therefore, I would very much like to see the option in the Group button to group tasks of various task types into individual Groups within a project. This would avoid the current workaround of having to use rules to ‘sync’ to sections or a grouped single-select field to emulate this effect.
To clarify, we can currently Group by a task type which will produce a Group of each status of that task type, not the task type itself, which is what this feedback request is about.
Currently, we can only Group the statuses of a task type, so the Groups are, for example:
- Not started
- In progress
- Completed
But if we were able to Group by task type, we could have the Groups as per below examples:
- Task
- Milestone
- Approval
- Bug
- Risk
- Request
- Quote
- Invoice
- Expense
etc.
We can then argue whether we then have to add an ‘s’ at the end of our task type names (so our Groups name read correctly) ![]()
