Ability to expand/contract all subtasks in task list at once

This now has the “considered” tag :flexed_biceps: #hope

Only took 5 years and over 800 votes for something that would save thousands and thousands and thousands of user clicks and lost productivity. Might even take a whole day to code…

Yes, apologies, I’m being overly sarcastic. But it does beg the question - by what criteria are feature requests prioritized? (former software company owner, Fortune 500 help desk/customer service consultant and UIX designer by trade)

@Geoffrey_Brandt we tried answering that question here 🦄 If Wishes Were Unicorns: Why Asana Might Not Have Implemented that Feature Request (and other thoughts about Asana feature development and product strategy)

Thank you. I don’t recall reading that post before. It is reassuring.

I do understand the cost side. asana is a big beast now.

Maybe a better way for me to have asked the question is this: is there a place(s) where Asana describes their vision of the future and how they see Asana solving various use cases. More directional but with some mention of mechanics?

The video that hooked me on Asana for good way back when was the owner describing how each task completed by any employee was connected to the exec suite with Portfolios and Goals. All unified in a single, efficient user experience.

I renember at the time i was using Wrike. Arguably a more robust PM then. But they didn’t have the elegant company-wide work mgmt vision. I switched that week and never looked back, re-assured asana’s feature set would evolve in that direction.

There was a vision video a while back.

The vision didn’t change I believe.

But the vision is very high level, you wouldn’t see anything as specific as expand all subtasks. This is related to how Asana prioritises topics internally. For the longest time, subtasks have been awkward and I feel like no one at Asana was confident enough to start touching them :grimacing:

Agreed. BTW I wasn’t equating a feature request like expanding subtasks with product vision. I was just relating why I threw my lot in with Asana - the unified rank and file to c suite vision. It’s the intangible value add that separates it from the (sometimes more feature rich) competition. My opinion only. And why I feel comfortable recommending it to my clients (even if it requires some Flowsana help occasionally to fill in the gaps!)

This feature would be great in the calendar view as well! Especially if there are multiple tasks due on any one day.

Adding to the list of folks requesting this feature.

Hi @Dharmendra_Sawh , welcome to the forum :waving_hand:
Make sure to click on the vote button at the top of this thread - that will make your voice heard

The good news is that this thread has been tagged as Considered so there is a very good chance this will be implemented in the near future.

Adding my vote here to please develop this functionality within Asana. Thanks!
