The Workflow tab in projects was introduced several years ago, about a year before the current rule builder (which supports multiple branching conditions) and about 3 years before custom Task types.
The main issue I have with the ‘Workflow’ tab, as appealing as it looks, it heavily promotes and relies on the usage of Sections, rather than promoting Task types statuses, while its UI results in the user creating many many unique rules within each ‘Section’ which we would now otherwise have built into one single rule with branching conditions for each Section. But wait, we said we shouldn’t be using Sections for such Workflows! 
Bottom line, it creates bad habits and leads to messy overwhelming lists of Rules without promoting the latest features and best (or at least better) practises such as using Task types for ongoing workflows.
I feel the ‘Workflow’ tab should be either deprecated or brought up to speed with the current set of core features. It has not received any attention since it’s initial release back in late 2022, if I’m not mistaken.
