Rule action to convert task to a custom task type

With the introduction of custom task types, it would be great if we could have a rule action to convert a task into a particular task type. Especially useful if tasks are added to the project via email or multihomed from other projects (since setting the default task type setting doesn’t apply for those cases) or at any stage of a particular workflow.

Hey @Richard_Sather,

Not at all to negate your suggestion or vote, but FYI I’m working literally right now on adding that to Flowsana:

Should be out early next week.

Why am I not surprised? :sweat_smile:

Looking forward to it, @Phil_Seeman !

Yesterday, Flowsana did my dishes and laundry; thanks, @Phil_Seeman!

Every time I develop something for us internally I say to myself: why aren’t we just using Flowsana for this?

FYI, you can now set a task to a custom task type in a Flowsana rule - see Flowsana: workflow automation for your Asana projects - #212 by Phil_Seeman

I think this may have launched yesterday?

Well that didn’t take long :slight_smile:

Thanks for reporting @cosmo! I can’t quite see it in my space yet - perhaps it’s gradually rolling out.

@Forum-team , any insights?

@cosmo, What are the choices if you click that?

@lpb, I get a list of all the custom task types we’ve added to the project (or portfolio? not sure where in the hierarchy those live—I didn’t set this part up & haven’t explored custom task types yet), plus the default “task” type, in case you want to convert from a custom task type back to the standard task.
