Why is it that setting a specific due time on a task doesn’t initiate any kind of reminder or notification?
This is a huge hole and requires users to use a secondary app or set a calendar event.

I agree this could be a useful option, especially on mobile.
One workaround would be to set a rule up in the project or MyTasks that says When Due date is approaching (x amount of minutes or hours before)> Check if task is marked incomplete > Do this A. send email or B. add reminder comment.

This seems to activate the rule for all tasks, not just ones with specific deadline times (rather than specific deadline dates).
Hook it up with google calendar or outlook for time specific reminders.
