Introducing the Asana for Slack integration: Version 2.0

Dearest Asana community, we’re excited to announce a new and improved Asana for Slack integration! As of today, you can now:

  • Take action on tasks right from notifications or an Asana link. You can see the task details, complete the task, change the assignee and/or due date, add it to a project, or open it in Asana.
  • Get notifications on your work happening in Asana. You can get notifications for tasks assigned to you and for tasks you’re following.
  • Link a specific Asana project to a Slack channel. The channel will receive notifications when updates and changes are made to the project.
  • Create a new task in Asana without leaving Slack by typing /asana create into the message box.
  • Turn a Slack message into a task in Asana or add the message to an existing task by using the app actions button.

Can we choose what alerts we want to be posted in Slack yet? Impossible to use the integration when we get slack alerts for every comment made to a task when all we want is alerts for when a task is marked as complete…

Yeah, true.

We tried it right away when the update was posted, and removed it 2 days later, because it was just a LOT of duplicated notifications without any interest besides wasting our time and attention.
There is probably a better use to be figured out.

Hello. I have activated the Asana <> Slack integration but would like to remove it without affecting the rest of my team’s workspace. There does not seem to be a way to do so. Could someone please advise?

Hi folks

Just a quick note to let you know our team is currently rolling out an update for our Slack app. This new update includes:

  1. Unfurl Support for Portfolios, Milestones, Projects, and Status updates so you can get a preview of these directly in Slack!
  2. Support for Slack’s Enterprise Grid, and additional backend upgrades.

This update will require you to migrate from the legacy to the new app, and please note that depending on your set up you may require app approval from your Slack Admin in order to complete the update.

You can learn more about the Slack app in the following article, and if you have any follow-up questions, feel free to log them into the #tipsandtricks category, @Emily_Roman and I will be more than happy to help!
