A task should only have one person who is responsible for its delivery. I 100% agree and stand by this concept. Asana is built on this foundation and I am fully supportive. So hear me out.
Background:
The way custom task types have been developed now are a game changer. It appears that Asana is adopting an outward facing platform with custom types feature, as well as, reply via email features for users who are not license holders. So all of this is good.
Then came the feature of sharing a project with an entire team, not just an individual. BINGO!
Context:
So when I start building productivity for my team’s workflow, I have set up the following:
Request comes in - Project Space for Intakes. New tasks are marked as New Intake - No assignee. These are currently entered by us through business interactions and strategic plans. There is a form, but the company is small and almost everyone has access to Asana.
The new task is reviewed and then goes into stages: In Progress / Pending / Blocked / Complete. All with few bits and pieces associated with it.
Request:
With other departments working from within Asana, it would make sense for them to be able to create a new task, fill in their request / task name, description, etc.. and then assign to my team.
when they do so, the task will appear in our intake project space, and follow the workflow we built.
I would be happy with the following:
- When the task is assigned to a team, restrictions and limitations characterise the task.
- The task cannot be marked complete or certain fields changed, until the assignee feature is changed to an individual
