Allow Asana AI to create or move tasks into (dedicated) sections

Hey everyone! :waving_hand:

When using Asana AI to create tasks, I’m missing the following functionalities:

  • creating a task in a dedicated section
    • when Asana AI is creating a task, it does not have the ability to create it in a dedicated section; it will always be created in a new / nameless section and I have to move it manually
    • this functionality would be helpful, especially when creating bulks of tasks using Asana AI, to transfer the section info while creating the task
  • moving tasks from one section to another is not possible with Asana AI

While this is currently not possible, it would be nice to have this in a future version of Asana AI.

In the meantime I’d be interested to hear how others have approached this.

Some ideas

  1. Did you get the opportunity to test this feature “Smart Project” ? Where Asana can create complete projects, including tasks & sections?

  2. Dash will be like the next generation of smarter Asana AI, so I’d expect more actions over time, and possibly the ability to delegate some actions to AI teammates.

As for Smart Project: Yes this works fine, when creating new projects. But when working on existing projects and creating tasks with Asana AI, it’s just not possible to create them in the correct section.

Often times, it even creates a new, untitled section from where I can sort the tasks manually. It would just be easier if the Asana AI would create the tasks correctly from the start (in the correct section).

Not sure for Dash; I believe it’s currently in beta and I’m not aware of the General Access date.

Have you tried using “Group by a Custom field” instead of sections; maybe Asana AI can fill fields?
If that works, that would solve partially your problem; as the task will be sent to the right section (but no new section would be createad)

In June, Asana showed a slide that said “Coming August.”

Apparently, Asana Dash should be available on or after the 10th August, although this may change slightly.
