Which Asana feature is your vacation self? :asana: 🏖️ ✈️

Hi Community,

It’s finally Friday!!! :tada:

Yes, I have been talking a lot about summer holidays lately, but with good reason. I’ve got one coming up, it’s my favorite season, and honestly… it’s Friday, which already radiates holiday energy.

When I told the team I was going on vacation soon, they asked me the usual questions: flight details, hotel, itinerary. And my honest answer?

“I actually don’t know…” :thinking::face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:

Truly, I didn’t. Up until a few days ago, I had no idea what time our flight was, where we were staying, or even which airline we were flying with. My friend (aka the glorious trip captain) planned the entire thing: accommodations, flights, rental car… everything. All we have to do is show up.

Now, as someone who’s usually “Very On Top of Things” (well, ish…), I swear I’m not always like this. But this time, I’m fully embracing my tag-along persona.

And then it hit me: OMG, I’m a comment-only member of this trip.

So I thought this would be a good topic for a Friday post:

:asana: If Asana features were holiday personas, which one would you be? :asana:

  • :backhand_index_pointing_right: You’re like Approvals – The Decider :diving_mask:
Snorkel or nap? Should we book the fancy hotel or the cheapest one? You make the call. Fast, firm, and with no regrets. Sometimes controversial, always confident.
  • :backhand_index_pointing_right: You’re like a Comment-Only + Dependencies combo – The Effortless Tag-Along :ring_buoy:
You didn’t plan the trip. You didn’t book a thing. You’re only here because someone looped you in. You can’t start anything until someone else does, and even then, your main contribution is a supportive “Count me in!” before returning to your frozen drink. But you ARE essential (in spirit).
  • :backhand_index_pointing_right: You’re like Milestones – The Sentimental Time-Stamper :sunrise:
Every moment is a moment. The first Aperol spritz? Milestone. The accommodation has a working coffee machine? Milestone. The group selfie has decent lighting? Milestone. You clap when the plane lands (and you mean it!)
  • :backhand_index_pointing_right: You’re like Proofing – The Instagram Manager :camera_with_flash:
No, we can’t move on until you approve the third round of edits on this group photo. You are the final filter. The sun must hit just right. You’ve never posted anything casually in your life.
  • You’re like Status Updates – The Group Reality Check :loudspeaker:
You’re the one gently announcing, “We’re three hours behind, two flip-flops down, and no one’s eaten since 10 AM.” Calm, clear, always with a smile and a backup plan.
  • :backhand_index_pointing_right: You’re like Goals – The Sensible One :bullseye:
You’re on vacation, but you’re also the reason the group doesn’t miss the train, lose the passports, or end up hangry in a parking lot. You packed snacks “just in case,” booked refundable tickets, and always know where the sunscreen is. You’re not a buzzkill! You’re the reason the buzz gets to happen.

:speech_balloon: Which one are you? Or do you have your own Asana-meets-holiday persona?

Drop it in the comments. We want to meet all the different vacation personalities out there! :palm_tree::airplane::backhand_index_pointing_down:

I resonate with status updates except no one reads my status updates, but whenever something* goes amiss I get to say I told you so :face_with_hand_over_mouth: :innocent: but, thats where the backup plan comes into play! I look forward and plan for the unexpected even if the unexpected doesn’t always happen I always like to be ready for anything!

@Levar_M Haha I’ve been a comment-only task on this upcoming trip, but normally, I’m definitely more like you: a status update type, with my “I told you so”s loaded and ready to deploy

I go for Proofing - The Instagram Manager :camera_with_flash: :joy: everyone hates the different shoots to get great pictures during the trip but they thank me later for saving the great memories :blue_heart:

Of the options I think the Milestone (although without the clapping ).

The rule feels more applicable though, as I tend to work out a lot of different scenario’s of if-this-then-that.

And I definitely need to be fed specific triggers to move into action.

Great and funny post, as always!

My vacation/trip Asana feature is subtask-level detail with no need to ever mark anything complete. That is, if we find ourselves in such-and-such neighborhood, I’ll make sure to surface opportunities here we might otherwise miss.
