What does "Customize" in the Calendar view actually do?

Can someone help me understand what Customize actually does in the Calendar view? I can’t find any documentation in the Help. I thought this to customize what I actually projects I see on the calendar, but this doesn’t appear to be the case. Any time I click on any of these selections, nothing actually happens.

What am I doing wrong?

EDITED TO ADD: All of the other views have a “filter” menu where I can set it to view specific tags or items. The Calendar view does not. That’s what I thought the customize menu was for.

The Customize menu is the same across all views. Indeed in some views, you see the result of your actions, like hiding a column. By in the calendar view it does not do anything, except impact the other views. + it allows you to access rules, forms…
