It’s very easy for me to see what is due and the status (if it’s stuck or ready to do).
What is not easy for me to see is what my direct reports are able to work on. They are repeatedly telling me that they have many “stuck” tasks, but I can’t see that status when I look at their tasks: Zight 2024-06-14 at 9.58.05 AM
I can only see that some things still have dependencies, but I can’t add the “status” column when I am viewing their tasks.
Is there a way around this? Maybe some sort of custom project?
Thanks for the screen shots - makes your question very clear! The issue you are encountering is that Searches only report native fields: Task name, Assignee, Due date, Projects, Tags; and not your custom field(s).
The solution could be as you suggest - create a project for reviewing your team’s tasks: “Lindsay’s team review project”. To populate it, create and save a search that finds all the tasks of interest - e.g. Assignee in & Incomplete & Not in “Lindsay’s team review project”. Then select as many as you can and add them to “Lindsay’s team review project”. Repeat as needed until all tasks of interest are added - and thus the search is empty.
Go to “Lindsay’s team review project” and make sure the custom field is visible, unHiding if needed. If you do not see the custom field, it’s likely the case that it was not in your org’s field library. (NOTE: It is NOT enough to have the field be present in a template that you use everywhere; you must add that field to the library.) Add it to the library if needed (this can be done from any project where the field is present - I hope that works for all occurrences, but if it doesn’t then you will have a it of work to do to migrate all existing data to a global version of that field).
Replace the custom field with the one you use. It must be in your org library. Add to the search with Add filter > Add field.
Another approach is for each of your teammates to share their My Tasks view with you and agree to use a “Stuck” My Tasks Section for these tasks. Then you could see them there.
