# Using Variables in Rules with Gmail Integration

Hello,

I’m setting up a rule for Asana to send an email (via the Gmail integration) once a particular task is complete.

Is there a way to use variables to pull data from the task that will trigger the rule into the email body copy? Similar to the capabilities available if the “Do this” action were to “Add comment”.

Not with the Asana Send Gmail rule, but maybe with [Flowsana.net](http://Flowsana.net) (@Phil_Seeman).

Hi @Sarah_Cavanaugh,

Yes, you can do this using the “Send email” rule action in our [Flowsana](https://flowsana.net) integration. It supports our [Variable Substitution](https://help.flowsana.net/general/variable-substitution-in-flowsana) feature which lets you pull lots of info from the triggering task into the email subject and/or body.
