🪲 Unable to create projects

Since last week I’m running into the problem that for one account I am no longer able to create new projects.

Both the + Create button and through Team > Create work > Create new project I’m running into the issue that when the workflow gallery appears it crashes and I need to reload.

It then proceeds to reload the Workflow gallery, which then crashes again if I don’t close it before it does.

I’m wondering if others are experiencing the same issue.

If so, I have thought of two workarounds that seem to work as they both avoid the Workflow gallery window:

  • Convert a task into a new project
  • Use a blank project template

I am in touch with Asana support to get this resolved, but I’d thought it might be helpful to share it here.

Did you get any updates from Support? Were they able to resolve this for you? It would be great if you could share any update/resolution here if/when available! And do give us a shout if you need any help getting a resolution.

Support: “I can confirm this is a recent and confirmed bug. I have added your case to our bug report so our engineering team is aware and actively working on a fix.”~

EDIT: Wrong ticket. :sweat_smile:

No workaround yet, will keep this thread updated.

It’s been escalated to engineering last Thursday, haven’t heard since.

Update from support:

I wanted to confirm that our engineering team is still actively working on a fix for the issue where creating a team project from the team overview page causes Asana to crash. The behavior has been successfully reproduced on our end, and the team is continuing to investigate the root cause to ensure the resolution is stable before release.

Confirmed fixed!

Here is support’s reply:

I’m glad to share that engineering has released a fix for the issue where creating a team project—whether from the team overview page or other entry points—was causing Asana to crash.

In most cases, the fix should take effect automatically. However, you may need to fully sign out of Asana and sign back in to ensure the updated behavior is reflected in your environment.
