A number of scheduled tasks are not appearing in the timeline, there doesn’t seem to be anything I can do to make them appear, they are not marked as complete and occur as single day items about two weeks from now.
Any ideas?
The only other possible solutions I could offer are:
Make sure you’re really looking at the correct project
Make sure they’re tasks, or subtasks that have individually and explicitly been added to this project (and NOT subtasks that haven’t been explicitly assigned to this project)
Make sure the task has a due date
If you’ve done the above, and still no luck, then sounds like a bug to me.
Thanks for the options posted here.
Unfortunately I tried checking things and I’m still not seeing certain tasks on the timeline. I’m also using the instagantt plug-in and everything shows up on that so I’m relying more on that for the moment.
I’ll post an update if I find out anything else,
Thanks for the follow-up @Rob_Gibbons! if you send a screenshot of your Timeline and the URL of the tasks you’re missing to our support team, they should be able to help you troubleshoot this issue. Without this visibility, it is hard to identify what is not working.
To reach out to our support team, simply follow this path: Asana Support - Help Center • Asana > “I’m having trouble with” > Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on “Let’s chat”.
@Rob_Gibbons I had the same issue but was resolved by changing the timeline scale from weeks → quarters or year. Scrolling horizontal on weeks didn’t allow me to scroll far enough to see the tasks I’d entered.
I’ve encountered another possible cause. Newly-added tasks (like other changes) sometimes take several minutes (or maybe more) to show up. If you go hunting for them - either with your eyes, or with Advanced Search - before they have fully refreshed and loaded everywhere - it will appear they don’t exist. I haven’t been able to put any bounds on this latency, so is there any chance this could be part of what you’re seeing?
I’ve go the exact same issue…I can’t seem to trouble shoot it either…I will have to duplicate the project in timeline and see if it goes back to the list.
I am having a similar problem with tasks not showing on the Timeline. Sometimes tasks for whole sections do not show up. Sometimes partial sections are missing. All tasks are parent tasks and all are linked to the project. To complicate matters further, sometimes the tasks DO show up in the timeline. It seems to depend on the day. We re-created our project to specifically use the timeline and its dependency visibility.
That sounds like a serious issue. If i may be so bold, would you be willing to file that as a bug in the Bug area of this forum? With screenshots would be even better. That way, forum users can back you up to root cause and push for a fix.
We are trialing the Premium version of Asana. I also have this issue where I created tasks for a Project in List view but cannot see them in the Timeline view.
Is this an outstanding bug or am I making a mistake in my usage?
Thank you!
