Hi Asana Community,
We are excited to announce Skills are now available for AI Teammates! AI Teammates now have access to an expanded set of options in the Asana Teammates Gallery and can utilize specialized capabilities from the Asana Skills Library. That means you can start with a Teammate built for a role or workflow, then tailor it to fit how your team actually works.
What is an AI Teammate “Skill”?
Think of a Skill as a specific capability.
A Skill is a self-contained module of guidance and tooling that a Teammate loads when a specific task requires it. It defines the input, logic, and output for one well-scoped job.
-
Granularity: It acts as a specific tool required for a job to be done and is named like an action.
-
Examples: Multi-Channel Copy Generation, KPI Dashboard Design, or SOP & Safety Documentation.
-
One Skill, Many Teammates: Skills are highly reusable. For instance, a general skill like PowerPoint Deck Generation can be shared across many different Teammates.
You can add Skills from the Library, create your own, or upload your own instructions to build a custom Skill. You can also attach reference materials so your Teammate can work from the context your team already uses, instead of starting from a blank setup every time.
This update also builds on the Teammates Gallery that already exists today by expanding the available Teammates and giving people more ready-to-use starting points. And while Skills are not automated work triggers, a Teammate can automatically choose which Skill to use based on the task at hand, so the setup stays flexible without asking people to manage every step manually.

Let us know if you have any questions! We’d love to hear which AI Teammate or Skill you want to start with first.
