We have a subset of team that works in a pretty secluded environment (without internet and smart phone) due to the nature of their work. They have access to company email and ERP alone. Is there any way we could help them update status of tasks assigned to them and add comments if any, either with their Email or via SMS.

Your sub-team will be able to take several Asana actions via email, but it sounds like email-to-Asana will not encompass the full range you’re looking for. That said, Asana does have an offline mode, so I recommend that your team explores the offline options.
