Good morning, a friend of mine who loves Asana set me up under her organization and I got started there before I knew how to use Asana. Now that I have invested this time and effort… I don’t want to be part of her organization and want to switch to my own. Strange question I’m sure… but does anyone know how to make this happen? I can’t get a response from the Support Center.
You were a guest with his organization? Do you have a website on your own? (like gabriel@horn.com)? If you do you can signup for Asana and you’ll have a brand new org. Then you can use https://asana.kothar.net/ to migrate things over.
Hi @Gabriel_Horn and welcome to the Forum!
@Bastien_Siebman gave you a great suggestion.
If you have a company or work email address you can create your own Organization following these steps: Setting up an organization in Asana | Product guide • Asana Product Guide
After creating the Organization, you can migrate things from your friend’s Organization to yours, using https://asana.kothar.net/. Please, see below what this tool will carry over and what will not.
What carries over:
- Project name
- Tasks
- Subtasks
- Sections
- Due Dates
- Assignees (if they are also Members of the destination space)
- Tags
- Task activity & Comments
- Task attachments
- Boards layout
- Custom Fields
What does NOT carry over:
- Project privacy settings
- Project status
- Conversations
- Conversation attachments
- Assignees (if they are not Members of the destination space)
PS: After migrating things over, you will need to delete them from your friend’s organization as they will still remain there.
I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, let me know. I will be more than happy to help you!
