Subtask costs rolling up to parent in one project, but not another.

I found that if a parent task is collapsed, the costing information in my global custom field will roll up from subtasks to the parent task in one project.
Subtask visible:

Subtask collapsed:

However, when I view the parent task in a different project with the same cost fields, this doesn’t happen. I also cannot expand the parent task to view the subtask, despite the subtask being visible if I open the task details.

I don’t want to add the subtask to the second project as a visible line. I only want to see the parent task. Is there a way to get the subtask to appear and roll up on the second project as an expandable option, similar to the way it shows up on the first project? I think that would solve my roll-up issue.

Hi @Michele_Campbell2 , from your screenshot, I can tell that your 2nd project is using the ‘Group by’ button which disables the ability to expand the subtasks like your 1st project. The same applies if you use the Sort button and certain Filters too.

However the good news is that Asana is planning to solve this fairly soon. An A/B test is already in progress so, if proved successful, you will be able to expand/collapse your subtasks even when ‘Group by’ is applied.

Do you see your ‘Budget’ field roll up value display correctly once you disable the ‘Group by’ setting in your 2nd project?

I’m pleased to hear that the Asana team is working on the ability to collapse/expand subtasks when grouped.
Unfortunately, removing the grouping does not solve the problem. If I remove the groups, I see all tasks as a list. The 2nd and 3rd items shown are subtasks of the 4th item.

Even if I remove those subtasks from the project, I can’t achieve the desired effect.
