Yes, unfortunately, it’s still the case that this:

results in grouping all tasks with a Due date and no Start date in the No date group. It should instead treat tasks with only a Due date to group as if they had a matching Start date.

Ah right.. now I recall!

Yes, this is quite disappointing…

[@Forum-team](https://forum.asana.com/groups/forum-team) , could this get another round of escalation to the relative PM please?

I think many users would really appreciate this.

Think My Tasks grouped by Start date. I’d argue that should be a default tab set up by Asana for all to reduce confusion and improper use of My Tasks, something I run into regularly with clients. But it can’t be done until this request is addressed.

And same for so many project workflows too.

Thanks,

Larry

In the meantime, for anyone that groups by sections, maybe a partial (albeit flawed) solution would be to run a rule that triggers on start or due date approaching? Obviously Larry’s solution is a much better permanent option but just in case anyone needs a stopgap.

I agree - my training recipe for a ‘super quick setup’ for My Tasks, instead of the out-of-the-box Sections, is the following for the List view:

1. **Filter** Incomplete tasks
2. **Sort** by Start date
3. **Group** by Due date (and hide empty groups)

And then create more List view tabs to view otherwise, such as recently completed tasks, sorted by completed on.. etc.

Hi everyone, thanks for flagging this! The feature has indeed been launched, so I’ll move it to the correct subcategory. 🙂

@Larry_Berger_lpb, sorry we missed one of your questions in your bug report! I can confirm that the PMs identified a bug where the _“Hide empty groups”_ option wasn’t available for Start Date. This has since been fixed.

However, we haven’t received confirmation on whether tasks with a Due date but no Start date appearing in the _No date_ group is expected behavior. I’ve reached out to them for clarification and will update you all once I hear back.

Hi everyone, thanks for your patience. Our Product team has confirmed that this is currently expected behavior but has noted this as an opportunity for future improvements. While there’s no ETA at the moment, I’ll be notified if this gets implemented and will keep you posted.

EDIT: @Larry_Berger_lpb has created a feature request for this in our #English Forum > Product Feedback category (thanks Larry!). Feel free to add your vote there:
