I’m afraid it is currently not possible to sort tasks by Start Date but I can certainly understand how useful it would be for you and your team to have this functionality.
There is an existing thread in the #productfeedback category regarding this topic: Start Date Tasks in Today's My Tasks. In case you haven’t yet, I would suggest you to add your comment and vote.
