Good Afternoon,

So sorry to ask such a basic question but I’m struggling to find a screen or report that shows a count of tasks (open and / or closed) by assignee and also by project.

I just want to be able to see a quick snapshot of the number of tasks outstanding.

How would I find this?

Thank you! 🙂

This isn’t ideal but you could do the following:

1. Search for all tasks assigned to a person.
2. When creating your search, you can specify whether to include completed tasks or not.
3. Then, select all the tasks by clicking on the top task, holding shift and then clicking on the bottom task.
4. The task pane on the right will then tell you how many tasks have been selected.

Hope this helps!

@paulminors, Advanced Search is a great way to go. I’d add that you can sort that Advanced Search by Project, so you could see how many of the Tasks in the result were in each Project.

@john.macpherson, you can also enable a setting that allows you to see Task row numbers on the left hand side of the view. I have that turned on for just that reason – a quick way to see how many Tasks are in a section or Project! Under My Profile Settings, in the Display tab, you can enable that. Hope that helps!

Q: How do I tell how many tasks I have closed today (or last 24hrs) or my Team?

On the top right of ‘My tasks’ or the task list in a project you can select ‘Change View’ and select ‘Completed’. Under ‘Sort’ select ‘Completion Date’ - this will give you the completed tasks in date order.

By clicking the ‘Assignee’ icon next to ‘Change View’ you can breakdown the task list by person.

Hi @Charles_Thayer
You can also use Advanced Search and Reports so that in one click you get the list of completed task by all your team in all projects. There are many filters available.
For more info, here the link to the Asana Guide:

> **[Using Search & Advanced Search in Asana | Product guide • Asana Product...](https://asana.com/guide/help/fundamentals/search)**
>
> Find the exact task or set of tasks you’re looking for with Asana’s powerful search feature.

But you have to be at least Premium to have this feature.

Ah ha, From Advanced search I added a filter on “Completed date” for “within the last” 7 Days. That did the trick. From there it was easy to order by Assignee or Project which is what I was looking for. I could also “Save Report” although it seems to let me only say one “search results” report.
Thanks,

You can save different reports, with different filters. And once you open a report, there is a button “refine” to adapt the filters, and it won’t replace the report parameters unless you click save again.

Is this all for real? Seems unrealistic to me for someone to report KPIs of opened vs closed in a period that they must 1. perform a query for OPENED, 2. manually count up tasks, 3. record the number in a spreadsheet, 4. perform a query for CLOSED, 5. manually count up the tasks, 6. record the number in a spreadsheet, 7. do this for each period of interest, 8. produce a chart in the spreadsheet. I just want to press a button to produce a chart of opened vs closed for a period. Is this possible?

Second this - reporting needs a much better system in Asana!

This basic requirement is missing from the platform and it such a big thing ☹
