Setting a default answer for questions on a form

Is it possible to choose the answer that a questions defaults to on a form? I’ve used other Work Management software that does this but I don’t see a way in Asana so wondering if it exists or I just can’t find it.
As an example, I want to populate an Urgency field with the how urgent the request is. However, if it’s normal, I’d like them to not have to select Normal every time as 90% of the time, that should be the answer. I want the answer to be pre-selected as Normal and then it only needs to be answered if they need to change it to Hot or Immediate.

Hi @WhyMe, there isn’t currently a way to have a default answer populate in an Asana form, but you could rephrase the question and make it optional.

Instead of having them choose between Normal and Immediate, you could say something like, “If this request is urgent, please check the box below.”

Then, tie that question to a multi-select field with Expedite as the only option so it appears as a checkbox.

From there, you can set up a rule:

When a task is added to this project → Check if Expedite Request contains any of Expedite → Change Urgency to Immediate.

Then add a branch that sets Urgency to Normal if Expedite Request does not contain Expedite.

This way, if they don’t check the box, the urgency will automatically be set to your normal/default level without requiring the requester to select it every time.

@WhyMe,

In addition to @Jeremy_Long’s great answer/workaround, you may want to vote for this:

I did see that but it’s not what I’m looking for. I’d rather just have the ability to set an answer to default within the form editing tool or within a task template that is associated with the form with a click of a button rather than burying it in the URL.
