Briefly describe (1-2 sentences) the Bug you’re experiencing:
With a task created from a form entry, when using the ‘create a project from task’ rule and selecting the option to use a template the project created generates with the rules from the template paused.
The template is configured with the rules active
Steps to reproduce:
-Build a template with a rule that copies tasks that have been approved to another project
-Build a project to receive the copied task
-Build a project with a form
-Link a form response to a field with single select response
-Create rule that uses the associated field to create a project from a task using the aforementioned template when the linked field has changed to the response from the form
Resulting project will load with the rule from template paused
We haven’t received any other reports of this as of yet. I’d recommend reaching out to the Support team as @Phil_Seeman suggested and providing them with the URL to the project in question so they can take a closer look.
Thank you all. Another user affected by this issue reached out to the support team and was told the following:
“Our engineering team has reached back out to me regarding your instance, and they confirmed to me that it is of natural behaviour in Asana for the rules within a project template to be paused when applied to a task being converted to a project.
We appreciate you taking the time to bring this matter to our attention and how it can be a bother. We completely agree with this and are already working to build out a change in this. You can expect to see this added functionality where the rules won’t pause in the coming in the near future.”
