I’m trying to do the following on Asana, but I can’t see a way to do this. Here’s what I’m trying to accomplish:
Right click a task
Click ‘Mark as Approval’
Rule trigger moves task to Section called ‘Pending Approval’
I can see rule triggers for ‘Approval Status’, but it only includes ‘Approved’, ‘Changes Requested’, ‘Rejected’, and I can’t see a way to trigger a rule for when a task is marked ‘Pending Approval’
Any help would be appreciated, thank you.
Hello @David_Aiken,
Welcome to the Asana Forum

I like the thinking behind it, but there are no trigger rules for a task that is changed to an approval.
You can instead use Custom Fields to create the behaviour you describe. You will use normal tasks to run the approval process and create an Approval Custom Field, which will trigger any action you desire.
You can use the “Single-select” Custom Field to break down the approval process and use that to Approve/Request Change/Reject and to trigger Rules according to your needs.
If you need to streamline the approval process across multiple projects, you can use a Custom Field that is reusable across projects so that you always have the same approval stages.
Cheers,
Rosario
