Queue for Creating New Tasks

I recently had a user create several new projects, and he accidentally used existing projects as the templates. He immediately deleted the projects, but he did not select the option to delete the tasks in the project when he deleted the project. There are thousands on thousands of tasks in these projects, and many of them are multi-homed. Over 48 hours later, all my users are still receiving hundreds of emails every hour about new tasks being generated despite the original projects being deleted. Is there any way to clear out the queue of tasks to be created so they stop generating? Is there an easier way to clean up the tasks then deleting one by one via API? Manually deleting in the app seems to stall out if I do more than 50 or so at a time. Thanks!
