What you expected vs what happened
- Created a rule where one of my trigger conditions is “When Start Date is Changed” (This is a custom field). When a new date is selected or cleared, the rule does not get triggered.

- Create a “date type” custom field.
- Create a new rule where trigger = When [custom field] is changed > change task name to “X”.

Hi @Dirk_Fisher, welcome to the forum!
Your rule appears to be pulling the actual “Start date” of the task and not your custom field. You’ll want to be sure you are scrolling down past the Start date is options to the Custom field is changed options and selecting your “Start Date” custom field from there.
